Get To Know the New Sparklers DT!!

18156212_10212588596734029_2036848032168402242_oYes, yes I know… you guys already know me LOL!!  Today you’ll be introduced to the brand new Sparklers Design Team.  But first, in the spirit of getting to know them, here are a few fun facts about me!!

  • I love mustard with my french fries
  • my favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip
  • I detest all clowns! Don’t even think about coming near me….

Yup, that pretty much sums me up!!  Seriously though, I do love this new Sparklers Design Team and I know you will too.  Over the last month we’ve been getting to know each other and let me tell you, you’re in for an amazing year!!!

Without further ado, here’s my layout and the rest of the blog hop!

may 1 LO

I had a wonderful time creating this layout.  I chose to do some mixed media on a sheet of American Craft cardstock using Mama Sings The Blues Coloringz, Sunset Stripe Vibez and Quit Yer Wine-n.  I really wanted to play off the beautiful colors in the Cocoa Vanilla Studios Wild At Heart collection!  You know me and my sequin addiction… I had to just create a sequin mix to coordinate with this beautiful color palette.  That being said, the Free Spirit sequin mix was born to compliment the rich tones in this collection.

I left the journaling card blank for now.  I’m going to have my little reading expert, Sari, fill it out 🙂

Here are some close ups of some of the details. One tip I have for everyone, is when in doubt…. FUSSY CUT things out!  Butterflies, flowers, flower clusters, you name it!  Fussy cut it!  That’s how I created most of the little ephemera I used around my design.  They make some of the bolder elements in a collection must easier to use.

To finish things off, I wanted some neutral balance to my layout, so I added a few Cork Confetti Butterflies and May Arts Navy Burlap String.  If you haven’t tried any of the May Arts burlap strings, they are fabulous!!  They’re wonderful for adding texture and pops of color to any layout or card.  Plus, it’s very inexpensive!

That about does it for this layout and now you can hop on!  The entire line up is found back over on the SpiegelMom Scraps blog HERE but you can simply click HERE to go over to Lisa’s blog!!

Thank you everyone!!

XO Jody

Sparkler’s Design Team Blog Hop!

Hello all my creative friends!  I’m super excited and exhausted after these past couple weeks around the SMS homebase!  The DT Call closed a couple days ago and I’m totally hustling over here!   Today we are hopping, no matter how tired this mama is.

So, you should have hopped over from the SMS blog but if not, no worries.  Today is your lucky day and filled with inspiration from this fabulous Sparklers Design Team!  Here’s my layout which was inspired by one of my favorite messy scrappers with her fussy cutting therapy and her love of messy mixed media!  Missy Whidden, just gotta say thanks girl!!  Your videos have kept me sane these last few weeks!

April LO

I started with a piece of American Crafts cardstock and added a little bit of white gesso across the background.  I added less mixed media than I planned and that’s ok.  I used the packaging technique and just plan ‘ol splatters of three different Shimmerz spray products:  Mama Sings The Blues Coloringz, Ruby Spritz  and Chick-a-dee Spritz .  I also added a few touches of the Past-eez aqua color called, Tree Hugger, which is amazing!!  I began layering all these fussy cut flowers from the the Shimelle Little by Little colletion and really LOVE how all the layering turned out.  I also used a small glassine bag and part of a Chantilly Lace 8″ doily behind my photo.

I topped off my layout with a few Sweet Pea sequins and  added a few pops of cork to add some contrast and that’s it today!!  I’m so happy you stopped to spend your time with us today!  Now, you’re on to the Pink Glitter Scrapper Lisa!  Have a great hop!

Creative Embellishments Product Swap Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to my blog!! Jody here and I’m so very excited to kick of this HUGE blog hop with Creative Embellishments!  This is a very long hop, so here’s my layout along with a few close ups.  I used this gorgeous flourish  from Creative Embellishments to help accent the feminine feel of our daughter’s First Communion. I’ll be sharing a few more layouts this month featuring CE Chipboard products so be sure to follow my blog.  I cut the flourish in half to get more use out of it and painted it white using the new Shimmerz Acri-Tonez, self priming paint.  That paint is AWESOME-SAUCE!  It covered the naked chipboard beautifully!

I added some of my favorite Cork Confetti Butterflies, Moonshine Delight & Morning Dew Drop sequins, along with some other slight touches of mixed media with the Peach Fuzz Paste-eez from Shimmerz in the upper left corner and lower left and right corners.  I cut apart and tucked in a few pieces of a Silver Foil Doily and The entire photo cluster also sits on a  Chantilly Lace 8″ doily.  I found some pretty gold rub-ons in my stash (Amy Tangerine maybe?) and mixed some different wood veneer and Thickers to create my title.

You’ll also recognize parts of a Bella Blvd branding strip.  I love to save these, especially when they have words or phrases on them like the name of the particular paper or the company.  I love them!  And that’s a wrap for my layout today.  Check out all the close ups and then you’ll be off to the SpiegelMom Scraps Guest Designer Laura Whitaker!!   Enjoy the hop and don’t forget to comment for your chance to win a $25.00 shop credit!

Here’s the entire line up  in case you’re just joining me here today!

Blog Hop | Accent Scrapbooking Product Swap!

OMGOSH you guys.. I’m so excited this month!   We have teamed up with the fabulous Accent Scrapbooking from Canada and swapped some of our products.  Kareen is the owner and super sweet!  We’ve had a great time planning and chatting about this month’s collaboration.  In fact, her team is also hopping today so be sure to hop the Accent Scrapbooking designers after ours!

Ok crafty friends, onto my layout!  I was so excited to work with Kareen’s flair.  As soon as I received them this picture popped into my head.  I used several products from the Scrap Shop (Chantilly Lace Doily, Ruby Spritz,  Shimmerz Paints Edgy Eggplant Acri-Tonez, white American Crafts Cardstock and three lovely flair from Accent Scrapbooking. My other papers and embellishments are from the Pink Paislee C’est La Vie and Heidi Swapp.

Here are some close ups!  I used a small plastic cup to create my fun mixed media circles.  I spread some Edgy Eggplant Acri-Tonez and Ruby Spritz into a dish and smooshed the cup around a little bit.  The Spritz and Acri-Tonez blended beautifully together and I loved how they turned out!!  I also made my own puffy stickers by adhering the Ce’ La Vie stickers over some craft foam.  Super easy and super cute!

I want to thank everyone for spending their time with us today!!  Next, you’re heading over to Lisa’s blog.  She always inspires me and her layouts always make me smile! Enjoy everyone and be sure to comment on all the designer’s blogs!!  Accent Scrapbooking and I are each giving away THREE $25.00 gift certifications !! SpiegelMom Scraps December Blog Hop & Product Reveal

Hi everybody you should’ve hopped over from the SpiegelMom Scraps blog and checked out all of the brand-new sequin releases for the month of December. Thanks so much for being here! Today my layout was created with the brand-new Holiday Style paper collection from the fabulous new paper company, Wild Whisper Designs. I found these two lovely ladies, Heather and Suzy, on Instagram and instantly fell in love with their brand-new company. Those two ladies are amazing!  I’m super excited to announce that Wild Whisper is now carrying SpiegelMom Scraps products in their store!  This is great news for my Canadian friends!!   Please be sure to check them out and follow them on Instagram, Facebook and their blog.

Now for my layout!   I wanted to showcase a few of the different papers and the collection therefore I started with a piece of 12 x 12 white American Craft cardstock. This is definitely my “go to” cardstock as I love the subtle texture in it. I added some mixed media to the background using up my Shimmerz sprays in Hot Fudge and Moody Mauve. The Hot Fudge is a beautiful shimmery brown color which looks amazing in person.

Next I cut three, 2 inch strips of three of the different papers and use them as the base of my design. I also added a couple of white doilies but then felt like it needed some more woodsy and natural texture. I knew I wanted to use my May Arts natural burlap string. This is the perfect way to add a little bit of texture to layouts and cards without adding a ton of bulk or weight. To add the burlap string I simply drew some squiggly lines with my tacky glue around where I knew I wanted my photos to go. After drawing some squiggly glue lines, I carefully laid the burlap string right into the glue and let it dry. It really looks cool when it’s glued down like this!  I also added some Birds of a Feather Felties here too! LOVE THIS TEXTURE!!

After my burlap string and glue was dry I mounted my photos on some craft foam to add a little bit of dimension to lift them off of the page. Next, I chose the Evergreen Bough sequin mix which coordinates perfectly with the Wild Whisper Designers Holiday Style collection.  I wanted to add some more contrast interest to the page so I drew a another line of glue around the outer edge of the burlap string and decided to make a line of sequins. The green sequins in the Evergreen Bough mix really look cool next to the papers and the natural burlap string. I added some other sequins from the mix throughout the rest of the layout and finished it off with a few of my favorite Cork embellishments.

Below, I trimmed one of the Project Life cards into the shape of a feather and cut little slits along each side.  This was so fun to do and really added some more interest.  I layered a felt feather from the shop to really make them pop!

I hope you enjoyed my layout and that you enjoy the rest of the hop today. Be sure to comment at all of our blogs for your chance to not only with a $10 gift card to the shop but also each one of the new sequin mixes revealed today! Next you’re off to Lisa’s blog and I have a feeling you’re going to love what she created!

World Card Making Day 2016

Happy World Card Making Day friends!!  You should have hopped over here from the SpiegelMom Scraps blog and already downloaded the super cute free cut file!! This month’s cut file was designed by Laura Rumble and I just love it!!

Today, I’m very excited to bring you a couple cards in honor of World Card Making Day!  I challenged myself to use more masculine papers this time and pulled out my Fancy Pants Good Fellows 6×6″ paper pad.  These papers were definitely not what I’m drawn to create with… so I used some fabulous inspiration from my DT!  These ladies sure know how to rock paper crafting!

I created two A2 sized cards, which are going to be a part of a larger set of cards for teacher’s gifts later this year.  I did some pretty simple layers and incorporated my favorite May Arts Burlap String, bakers twine, Autumn Joy Sequins, Feather Felties and a white doily.

After I get a few sets of cards created, I’ll be gifting them in the perfect sized Glassine Bags!  This makes the perfect gift wrap for them along with some May Arts Burlap String to finish it off!

Thank you for joining us today! Please be sure to comment on our blogs so you’re entered to win the monthly prize!!  Next, you’re very lucky to be heading over to Lisa’s blog where I know she’ll inspire you to no end!!!

Have a great day!!

Bring on new goodies!

Squads Unite DT Blog Hop (1)

Hello everyone!  Thank you for joining us today!  You should have hopped over from the SpiegelMom Scraps blog and had a good look at the fun new products today!  Did you see all the Cork Confetti, new colors of the Heart Felties and sequins?  So much fun!!  Here’s the entire blog hop line up today in case you get lost and want to come back to finish later 🙂

Today I’m sharing a layout I created using the adorable Elle’s Studio Sunny Days collection, white doilies, Cork Confetti, wood veneer, Alma Mater sequins, a mini clothes pin and a glassine bag.

Sept 1 LO

I just love this collection and the combination of colors. I knew I wanted to add both sequins and the new Cork Confetti to my layout along with a doily and the Free SMS Cut File from  last month.  I’m still waiting for a couple new collections to arrive on my porch, so I’ll have to wait to use the brand new sequins!!

I’ts been a crazy couple weeks here so I used my ‘go-to’ layering of some of the papers and cut apart cards behind my black and white photo.  To add my dimension I popped it up using some craft foam.  I also die cut some vellum hearts along with the other die cut hearts to add a little more love to my layout.  I added some Shimmerz Coloringz in No Yolking for an added pop of color to compliment the yellow sun a little more.

In the photos above, you’ll see more of the little details. I created a sequin pocket with a small glassine bag, which I have peaking out from behind my layer of paper and photo.  I also added in more Cork Confetti throughout the layout to add an earthy tone and some more texture and contrast.  I do love how delicate and thin the new Cork Confetti is in relation to the other page elements.  The Cork Confetti itself is hand die cut and is 1/32″ thick.

I’m so happy that you’ve stopped by today!  I hope you enjoyed my layout and have been inspired to add some fun layering or new Cork Confetti to your projects!  Now you’re hoping on to Lisa’s blog HERE!!  Enjoy and don’t forget to leave your comments to be entered to win another $10 shop credit OR link up over on the SpiegelMom Scrap blogs HERE with the new free cut file “Book Lover” for a chance to win another $10 shop credit!!!

Squads Unite DT Blog Hop (1)

Happy creative Monday!! You should have hopped over from the SpiegelMom Scraps blog and saw those super lucky prize winners!  Congrats ladies!! Ok so, I’m going to jump right into my layout!  The photo I chose was from the kick off of our local library’s summer reading program.  This year they did an awesome story walk which took us outside and walking around our scenic little town.  Each stop on our adventure had a different page of the story to read.  As we followed the story, each page took us down the street or around the corner.  We absolutely love it!!

Our Library story walk LO

I’ve been dying to use this amazing butterfly cut file from Hip Kit Club which was a special release during a blog hop a few months ago. I backed all those beautiful geometric openings with the Pink Paislee Fancy Free papers, then topped it off with several spritzes of my Mr Huey’s Shine. It added a lovely sheen to the butterfly that photos don’t do any justice!

Next I played with the placement a bit, then lightly marked my card stock in a few places just behind my butterfly so I knew when it would be on the page.  I set my butterfly aside, pulled out an Amy Tangerine stencil from my stash and grabbed my Tide That Binds Texturez.  I placed the Amy Tan stencil around in areas that would peak out from behind the butterfly and added the Texturez through the stencil very lightly with my finger.  I didn’t allow much of the gritty texture to stay behind as I really just wanted the color.   I really love that color and how this turned out.  Next I backed my butterfly with some craft foam (I get mine from Amazon HERE) to add the dimension I love so much.

After I adhered my butterfly, I drew my ‘map’ around the butterfly and added some stops along the way with some punched circles from the Fancy Free paper.  Then I began to my little  Cork Fetti Hearts embellishments around my map, but I still needed a pop of color. After searching through my stash and trying to figure out what to add, I little light bulb went off!  I had a piece of scrap paper I used to die cut some cute little Kaisercraft Icon’s a couple weeks ago!  I was saving it but I didn’t know for what until today.  I used the heart negative as a little stencil and traced some hearts around my map and colored them in carefully with my No Yolking Coloringz.  I love the pop of color those cute little yellow hearts add to my layout!!  I also added some stamping with the fun Kaisercraft Cute Tags stamp and die set.  I love this set!!!  It’s perfect for scrapbooking or cards.

Thank you so much for spending your time with us today!  Remember to leave your comments on all the blogs today and say hello to the new Sparklers DT!!  One lucky commenter will win a $10.oo credit to the shop which will be announced on August 5th.

Now you’re off to this month’s guest designer, Tuesday’s Talent, Mandi!!  Happy hopping!

“Capture & Document Now” with Mixed Media

Hello everyone!  I’m happy to be back today for this layout share!  It’s cuddles all around in this picture for my hubby and our youngest daughter Abby.  I’m using up the last few chunks of Elle’s Studio Sunny Days collection and really want to stretch the last few pieces I have.  This is the perfect time for me to add in some mixed media!  I began my layout with a 12×12″ sheet of white textured American Crafts cardstock and two Shimmerz Paints Coloringz – No Yolking yellow and new color to SpiegelMom Scraps store, Mama Sings the Blues.  It’s a nice darker blue that’s not quite as navy.  It’s really beautiful!  I used the famous plastic packaging technique to smoosh those Coloringz onto my cardstock.  After that I used my WRMK stencil to create the fun arrows across my back ground and in either corner of the layout.  I used the beautiful teal Texturez, The Tide That Binds.  It’s so luscious!!

image1 (2) (1)

From there, I began to add layers of patterned paper under my sweet photo and pull embellishments from my stash and my SpiegelMom Scraps goodies.  You may remember the die cut hearts from Saturday’s layout HERE.  Well, I didn’t want those beautiful scraps to go to waste so I fussy cut around the heart die cuts and created more hearts to add to my layout.  I also die cut the same hearts from vellum which turned out so pretty!!  You can find that FREE die cut set right HERE.  There is also a challenge on the SpiegelMom Scraps blog through August 31st to create a project using the FREE cut file and link it up for your change to win.   Those details on the SMS blog in the same post as the free die cut.  So be sure to check it out!

Ok so, after I had the hearts where I wanted them,  I wanted to include some stamping as well.   I pulled out my  black pigment ink, light weight acrylic block and Cute Tags Stamp & Die Set by Kaisercraft.  I like this Kaisercraft pigment ink pad because it’s a crisp black in and actually dries pretty quickly on vellum.  Plus, it’s perfect size for people who don’t do a ton of stamping.

The series of stamped images that are the same are from Amy Tangerine and Dear Lizzy roller stamps I had in my collection and the “remember this” is from the Kaisercraft Cute Stamp & Die set.  It’s so perfect for cards and scrapbooking! Those lovely wood veneer stars of from Elle’s Studio Sunny Days collection.  I picked up mine over at Paper Issues a couple weeks ago and just love it!

Thanks so much of stopping by today!  I hope you’ve enjoyed my layout and are inspired to do some mixed media on your next layout!  Enjoy your day.

Scrap It Off! Design Team Reveal Blog Hop

scrap it off blog header

Hello my fellow scrappers!!  You should have hopped over from the SpiegelMom Scraps blog where you saw the fabulous new Sparklers Design Team!  I’m so very excited to have these girls designing with me!  I hope you all love the new sequins too.  They’ll be available in mid-August!!  If you’re just joining me today, please be sure to start over at the SpiegelMom Scraps blog where you’ll get all the crafty deets on this amazing blog hop!!

Ok, onto my layouts today!  Yes, I went a tad bit crazy and made two.  I was working with Khristina on the cut file and absolutely love how it turned out!  For my first layout, I MAY have staged this picture of two of my girls.  Don’t pretend like you’ve never done that LOL!!

I started with white American Crafts cardstock & Lemon Drop Dazzlerz by Shimmerz Paints. I used a small amount of water to dilute the Dazzlerz & use it more as a watercolor paint. It worked amazing as I brushed it over my cardstock.  Next up, I used Elle’s Studio’s Sunny Days to create the paper elements on my layout, along with Shimmerz Paintz Texturez in Marooned Over Miami & Mari-Gold Digger, teal Felt Fetti Hearts, Alma Mater sequins, navy May Arts burlap string, Cloudy Days Felties, a Studio Calico wood anchor, veneer and that fab cut file from designed by Khristina!!

A couple of my favorite elements on this layout are the May Arts burlap string wrapped around the hearts and the Shimmerz Texturez behind the hearts in the cut file. To create that effect I brushed some of the Texturez onto a piece of cardstock and allowed it to dry. Then I just fussy cut it so it would fit behind the cut file. I adhered that entire cut file to some craft foam and adhered it to my layout.

For my next layout, I also played with another cut file designed by Khristina, which was on the blog HERE, and combined it with the one released today.  This was so fun and fit perfectly with my photo and the Simple Stories Sunshine & Happiness collection. I filled all those beautiful hearts with papers from the collection, a piece of orange canvas from my stash and a teal Felt Fetti heart, which was trimmed down to size.   I love the extra texture and interest those simple fabrics create!  I also backed the PLAY cut file with that pretty light blue paper and then popped it up off the page for that dimension I love.

I scattered a few of my favorite cloud embellishments, Cloudy Days Felties and the new Summer Paradise Sequins & Cork Confetti Hearts (both released in mid-August).   I topped off my layout with some ink splatter and some journaling.
